To develop a picture of what we're going to do, you'll need a
niche you've thought of, full of hungry or desperate buyers.
You want a market that's interested in your subject, ready to
buy and affluent enough to make the purchase. As your
experience grows you can modify your content and product
choices to closer match your target market's custom tastes.
You don't want a subject too broad. A smaller, more specialized
topic directed to that group of buyers is a much better choice.
You've probably already started making a list of possibilities.
If you haven't, start one now. Leave some space between the
items on your list, we’re going to need it for the additional
information we’re going to find together. Try to come up with
a list of at least 10 things.
Here's a few hints, just to help you start your list. What drew
you to the Internet? Where do you feel people are making
money? Where do you feel people go when they are looking
for solutions to their problems? Do you have a hobby? Is there
something you’ve always wanted to do but never had the time
for it? Is there something you’re really good at? Is there
something you can talk about and never seem to get tired of?
Where do your friends go when they're on the Internet? Just
listing these places and things will give you an idea of an area
of the Internet to start. Which of the items on your list most
appeals to you?
Let's use your list. It doesn't have to be in any sort of order.
We're going to determine the rank of your items in the
probable order of best to worst now. Take one of the items
and do a Google search on that item. How many hits? Do the
same search on Yahoo and any other search engines you
know of. Write down the number of hits on each search below
the item. Total the number of hits on this item. How many?
Now, do the same for each of the items on your list.
Remember to visit each of the search engines for each of your
items, you don't want to miss any of the hits that come up. Do
you have a total number of hits for each of the items on your
list? Which item got the most hits?
You've got a winner, for now. You've got to start somewhere.
We’re assuming you have Internet access. and a few bucks to
get started. You won’t need much, just to start.
Next you’re going to need:
• A Domain Name
• A Web Host
• A Website, a Blog or BOTH
• A Capture Page
• An Autoresponder
• Dedication, Diligence and Patience
