You'll need a way to both pay and accept payments
for reports, software and products. Many of you are
already familiar with PayPal. To accept payments
from PayPal, on a regular basis as a business, you'll
need to get a "Premiere" account with them. Other
than the processing fees, just like the bank would
charge for credit card processing, it's FREE.
You should also consider a debit card from them.
This would allow you to take cash from your PayPal
account when you wish to do so at any ATM. In
addition to a debit card PayPal also offers a credit
card if you'd like to apply for one.
Setting up a PayPal account prior to any payments
will allow you to keep all of your credit card or
bank account information private. You may also
transfer money to and from your PayPal account
and your bank account. It also requires a couple
of days to implement the set-up procedure.
There are alternatives that I haven't discussed.
Most are something that should be considered at a
later date, after your business is established.
Most marketers continue to use PayPal as a choice
for accepting payments even well after their
business is successful because it's familiar to their
potential customers. Using another processor often
slows or stops a sale by confusing the customer.
Using their normal routine purchase procedures
bypasses such objections.
Be jealous of your PayPal account. If your sales
levels are about to change from under $50-$100 to
around $300-$500,contact them beforehand to
inform them that your habits are about to change.
Check your payment links prior to launching a
product or a promotion to avoid any problems. You
don't want anything to stand in the way of you
receiving your money from a sale or keeping a sale
from going through.
Handle each sale as if that sale is to your very best
customer.
Remember that even if a customer purchases
something from you they may not be signed up for
your list. Consider contacting EACH of your
customers after a purchase to thank them for the
purchase. Offer them an incentive for subscribing
to your list or newsletter. Suggest that they
white-list your contact information. This additional
point of contact is a good time for a one-time-offer
(a sale or promo). Giving them something extra will
make you stand out from their experiences with
other marketers. Ask them if any of their friends
could use your business services, products or
newsletters. If you add an affiliate program at any
point, mention that to your new customers as well
as contacting your previous customers, informing
them of your affiliate program. Each of these items
are something that a good autoresponder will
handle for you.
